''A BIG OPPORTUNITY" 12 YEARS OLD BOY FROM CHICAGO PREPARES TO COMPETE AT BASEBALL WORLD CUP IN TAIWAN

Baseball is a popular sport played in many countries around the world, especially in the United States, Japan, South Korea, and some Latin American countries. It is a bat-and-ball game typically played between two teams, each consisting of nine players. The objective of the game is to score runs by hitting a pitched ball and running around a series of bases before the opposing team can field the ball and tag the runners out.

Key aspects of baseball

The Field: A baseball field is typically diamond-shaped, with four bases (first base, second base, third base, and home plate) arranged at the corners. The distance between bases is 90 feet (27.4 meters).

Positions: Each team has nine players on the field, divided into specific positions, including pitcher, catcher, infielders (first baseman, second baseman, shortstop, and third baseman), and outfielders (left fielder, center fielder, and right fielder).

Pitching: The game starts with the pitcher, who stands on the pitcher's mound and throws the ball towards the batter standing at home plate. The pitcher's primary goal is to strike out the batter or induce them to hit the ball into play for the defense to field.

Hitting: The batter's objective is to hit the pitched ball into play. A hit can result in the batter reaching a base safely or advancing to multiple bases, depending on the type of hit (single, double, triple, or home run).

Base Running: After making a hit, the batter becomes a runner and attempts to advance around the bases. Runners must touch each base in succession without being tagged out by the defensive team.

Defense: The team in the field tries to prevent the opposing team from scoring runs by fielding the ball and making outs. Defensive players can tag runners, catch balls in the air, or throw the ball to a base before the runner reaches it.

Innings and Outs: A baseball game is divided into nine innings, with each inning having two halves—one for each team to bat and one for each team to play defense. Each half-inning continues until three outs are made by the defensive team.

Baseball has a rich history and is often referred to as "America's pastime." The sport has a dedicated fan base and has produced numerous iconic players and memorable moments over the years. Major League Baseball (MLB) is the highest level of professional baseball in the United States and features some of the world's best players competing for the championship title.
